Workshops / Summer 2026

Workshops are week long (M-F) in my studio at 65 19th St. in Brooklyn. Each daily lesson will include warm-up exercises, presentations and demos, one-one-one instruction, fun conversation, and independent art-making time in a supportive and professional art studio. All materials and artwork documentation are included in the fee. All payments are made through Venmo/@evasozapllc.

Each workshop is limited to 8 students. This ensures a boutique learning experience and opportunities for me to connect and work closely with each student. The studio space is bright, spacious, and I prioritize creating a safe, respectful, and fun setting for making art.

Point of View : Drawing Workshop for Teens

July 27 - 31, 2026 / M-F, 1-4pm, $500

Ready to take your sketches from "decent" to “dang!”? Whether you’re looking to level-up your college portfolio or just want to master the art of the line, this isn't your average drawing workshop. Over five lessons each 3 hours long, we’ll strip drawing down to its core and rebuild it with style. We’ll bridge the gap between technical precision and unique artistic expression, giving you the tools to draw what you see—and then break the rules on purpose.

Forget drawing fruit bowls. We’ll dive into cabinets of curiosity territory—drawing from animal skulls, skeletons, and still-life set-ups that actually look cool on paper. We’ll experiment with a professional toolkit including high grade graphite, different types of pens, and the fluid, bold energy of sumi-ink and brushes.

You’ll come away with a suite of new and dynamic drawings, a fresh perspective on how to draw any subject, and potential high-quality portfolio pieces that will make admissions officers (or your Instagram followers) stop in their tracks.

• Limited to 8 students per workshop, offered on a first come first served basis. A minimum of 6 students must be registered for the workshop to run.

• Open to teens of all drawing experience levels

• All materials and artwork documentation included

Head Space : Portrait Drawing for Teens

August 3 - 7, 2026 / M-F, 1-4pm, $500

This workshop is about understanding the anatomy of our faces and portraiture, then completely reinventing it. Over 5 lessons each 3 hours long, we’ll deep-dive into the structure of faces. We’ll start with the “how to” of proportions then move into the “why not” of stylization and distortion. If you want to capture a likeness and then push it into something bold, surreal, or hyper-expressive, this is your playground.

We’ll use mirrors, printed references, and massive projected imagery to see faces in a whole new light. Our tools will include graphite pencils, different types of pens, and the fluid energy of sumi-ink and brushes on paper.

You’ll come away with a grasp of line work and value ranges, strategies for measuring facial proportions, and a powerful body of new drawings and potential portfolio pieces.

• limited to 8 students per workshop, offered on a first come first served basis. A minimum of 6 students must be registered for the workshop to run.

• open to teens of all drawing experience levels

• all materials and artwork documentation included

Wild Tableaux : Painting for Teens

August 10 - 14, 2026 / M-F, 1-4pm, $600 - FULL

It’s time to push and pull paint like you mean it! Over 5 lessons each 3 hours long, you’ll gain an understanding of the physics of acrylic paint and the chemistry of color to make paintings that pop off the canvas. We’re taking the traditional still-life and giving it an adrenaline shot. You’ll learn classic approaches like underpainting, blocking, and layering while also allowing for stylization and personal artistic expression. We’ll avoid dusty fruit bowls and paint vibrant, fun still-life arrangements, and remixing reference images to create something totally fresh.

You’ll learn basic color theory and color mixing, brush work, and different layering techniques to build up your images. We’ll also balance accuracy with creative freedom by encouraging playfulness.

At the conclusion of the workshop, you’ll come away with a body of new work and potential portfolio pieces, and an understanding of color theory, composition, how to handle acrylic paint, and a new appreciation for the language of painting.
